Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintenance and repair of track infrastructure on specified territory of railroad, using hand & track tools, materials, and equipment.
- Inspect track and other railroad property/facilities
- Repair and rebuild railroad track, using power and non-power hand tools.
- Cut rail, manually compress ballast, remove/install ties, lift, roll, and adjust rails, and lift/carry track material with assistance.
- Cut brush, trees, and vegetation.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance
Operate proper electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic hand tools such as: drills, impact wrenches, jacks, power saws, grinders as well as non-powered equipment such as: shovels, picks, axes, cutters, and sledgehammers.
Basic Qualifications
- 18 years of age
- Available to work full time up to (50 hrs./wk.)
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable to drive company vehicles
- Commercial Drivers License preferred but not required
Physical Requirements
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally
- Able to use hands to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling
- Able to work on uneven surfaces; frequently climb on/off equipment; work on/around heavy/moving machinery; bend, walk, stand, and sit for extended time
- Wear required personal protective equipment
